The rain fell gently as we hurried through the Warehouse District of New Orleans, to the National World War II Museum. An author was scheduled to speak on the events of Iwo Jima as part of the museum’s commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the battle. We grabbed seats in the very front. It was my first time attending a program at the World War II Museum and I didn’t want to miss a thing. From this fierce and critical battle on a small island in the Pacific in 1945 came that iconic photo snapped just the moment the victory flag was raised.

Such a great museum and indeed spectacular efforts to honor our veterans. The battle of Iwo Jima was a strategic one for the allied forces. There is still so much to learn and understand about the WWII.
Robert, indeed, what a gem it is, especially the opportunity to actually meet WWII veterans. Such an honor! Agreed, there is so much to know about this war. I hope you had the chance to view the museum’s virtual International WWII conference the first weekend of March? It was excellent! Thank you for your comment!
Very nice report on WWII museum. Bob
Thank you, Dr. Bob!! Always appreciate your inputs! Looking forward to a future post about bird photography!
